YouthCO is a community outreach organization dedicated to helping those who are living and dealing with H.I.V and Hep C, so it was a real treat to give such a great organization a visual and web overhaul.

    www.youthco.org

we quickly realized that their original visual identity was simply not going to cut it with their core demographic.

    Old brand

These days the youth market is extremely savvy and have no interest in being treated as children. So we opted to go with a much more modern and professional approach while still retaining some fun and playful elements.

    Letterpress Texture

Typographically I worked with both serif and sans options, but the more modern sans seemed to float to the top of the heap. I am a big fan of the clean lines and modern styling of Gotham, which, with some subtle tweaks, really made this logo sing.

Color wise I knew that I wanted to work with more than 2 colors, and I also wanted to work with vibrant saturated colors. It took a while for the client to come around to the palette of Purple, Teal and Chartreuse Yellow.

the colors really make this design pop.

New logo options - Serif / Sans

Overall I worked with the theme of overlapping pieces of paper for the website design. I also wanted to find a way to break up the design using angles and really try to get away from the standard box forms of most websites. This led me to the angular take on tab systems which are used throughout the site.

We wanted to give YouthCO a really great website, and the rest of the team at LiFT Studios, helped me execute the development side of the site, and also implemented my design direction like pros, a big thank you to Sabrina Franco at LiFT for all her hard work on this site as well.
