We live in a digital world.
Gone is the era of the physical memory.

Have we lost all sense of nostalgia or history? "Remember Memories" is a collection of large scale mixed media pieces  which are a reflection of our increasing dependance on the digital world to capture and store our memories.

these paintings are a rebellion against the digitization of our culture.

Perhaps it is the fact that I earn my living producing things which only exist in a digital space; which led me to create a physical body of work.

Each painting is a unique collage of local newsprint, vintage photographs and paint. Each painting in the series is also collaged with pages from a single book which is over 110 years old. The use of bold primary color with geometric forms and photomontage is drawn from my love of the russian constructivist period.

This is strongly juxtaposed against the abstract nature of the compostion and chaotic nature of the splattered paint. Each piece is intricate and  delicate, both in the micro and macro. Warm touches of gold and silver draw the viewer in to the most intimate details from across the room.

El Lissitzky is one of my favorite artists from this period and I am also a big fan of his influential work in the Bauhaus and De Stijl

El Lissitzky's entire career was laced with the belief that the artist could be an agent for change, later summarized with his edict, "das zielbewußte Schaffen"

    goal-oriented creation

This collection represents an ongoing project, with more work to come in the series. There will also be a new collection of 36 smaller works coming soon.
