real high - fake drugs

Fake Drugs

The band fake drugs has been a favorite for quite a while now. I am totally hooked on their marriage of low fi garage with synth poppy hooks. Hailing from the hipsterest of towns these guys live up to their hometown's cool vibes.

dubstep infestation

Thanks to all the filthy techno hippies lounging around north america acid tripping from one coachella to another we are now faced with a serious dubstep infestation!!

Thankfully we have some pretty sweet examples of how to flourish in this new musical ecosystem.

the dubstep infection is sweeping the nation

And please if you have your own tips feel free to leave them with a comment below!

indie-rock-plosion

Something for errrebody

Yes... I do realize that half these bands aren't *actually* "indie" per-say... so sue me!

birds of prey

Ladyhawk

I had heard these guys a few times over the past 5 years, and I recently got my hands on their newest disc 'Shots'. This new disc totally blew me away, I am unfortunately a few years to late on the draw with this newest addiction... but what the hey felt like sharing.

why did nickleback get huge when great vancouver bands like ladyhawk go largely uncherished?

some hip hop favs

My earliest encounters with hip hop were the likes of eazy e, too short, wu tang, nas, b.i.g and tupac... I sometimes find myself going back through some of the stuff we all know and love from these hip hop giants.

So here it is... my ultimate hip hop playlist... some old stuff... some new stuff.. and everything in between

east coast, west coast, midwest and the dirty south

In case you haven't noticed yet... montreal bands are taking over the world...

yet another phoenix rises from montreal bounces through, austin and winds up slaying the west coast with fellow slayers We are Wolves. Personally, I can't wait to see these guys. They will be playing at the biltmore on the 15th... so definitely check them out!

rabble rousers - titus andronicus

Patrick Stickles of Titus Andronicus

I have been a fan of these guys since 2009's "The Airing of Grievances"and their new disc "The Monitor" didn't fail to impress. After hearing the monitor a few times now, I realized that I simply love the shear nihlism of titus andronicus. It seems that they have dropped the gloves and let their true hatred of the world shine.

hipsters can has fun too

Just a little bit of silliness from around the internets~!

Matt and Kim shakin tha bootay in Millwaukee If you have ever seen these guys live, you will remember the rabid smile that Kim has on her big goofy face the whole time.

gosh these two are cute!

Enjoyjoi!

Think About Life

These days it is no big secret that montreal is one of the deepest and arguably the best music scene in Canada. But what is still a bit of a secret is how far beyond the usual suspects that talent pool really goes.

London Underground - Tom Vek

So his album "We Have Sound" has been stuck in my head for weeks now and I still can't stop listening to it. I am still blown away at how infectious his songwriting is. For someone who is completely self-taught, plays pretty much all the instruments on the album, and recorded the disc on stolen studio time... well the results are astounding.

Vek has recently stated that he is 'unable' to write a follow up to 2005's We Have Sound due to having contracted writers block and it is expected his will soon announce his musical retirement
