one to watch - mr. collins

The Big Up Collective is a group of artists and musicians hailing from Georgia. The group put down firm roots while attending SCAD in Savanah. This multi-disciplinary crew is one of the most talented and creative pockets I have found while on my travels on the interweb.

sam vanallemeersch

not too sure what to say about sam vanallemeersch...

I just love whatever weird place he is coming from with these drawings.

The scratchy, scribbly style is what makes his work so unique. Sam must have to put himself into an almost seizure-like state to create these pieces. But seriously though, CAN'T GET ENOUGH OF SAM

Stag, Stag Sans and Stag Rounded

The Stag family of typefaces is one which I only recently discovered, but I knew instantly that I was going to love this here font! (And yes I am continually amazed at what a huuuge nerd I am)

I was thinking about writing a whole spiel about what an amazing typeface this is, but you should know just by lookin, this one here is the real deal.

back to basics

So I have noticed lately that there is a real resurgence in handmade goods, but also in the visual art world, there seems to be a return to some of the basics of art and design.

Simple pencil, chalk and biro pen drawings are now common place in galleries around the world. These artists are taking 'the basics' to whole new heights. There are so many examples of amazing art made with the simplest of tools. here are just a  few samples from some amazing artists that you should check out.

bauhaus for the everyday - neubau grotesque

Neubau Grotesque

Some of you may have checked my earlier post on ABC about a modern twist on the bauhaus type style. I have been on a bit of bauhaus kick lately and when I stumbled upon this gem I pretty much crapped myself. Neubau Grotesque is exactly what I want out of a typeface, readable, clean and visually interesting.

I came across this type design a little while ago when i was cruising deviantart. To be honest I was shocked at the quality of this license free typeface. I was even more shocked to find it on deviantart.

Mr. Eaves - Swoon

For quite some time now I have had a bit of a crush on Mr. Eaves... He is strong and elegant, you could say he might even be handsome... the long and short of it is that he has been tugging on my heart strings for a long time now.

Mr Eaves

Created by Zuzana Licko and released in 2009 the oft sought after sans serif compliment to the classic Mrs Eaves finally arrived. I have always been a fan of Emigre type, but frankly, this one felt special...
